Welcome to The Journal

A great team of Saint Mary’s University Students has been hard at work in the relaunch of The Journal —a news page made for and by SMU students to highlight, discuss and express opinions relevant to our daily university experiences. 

We will strive to be the voice of students and drive forth issues that you all care about, our team of writers is comprised of passionate, motivated, thoughtful students that will bring you relevant content and will be open to new ideas you may want to contribute. 

As editor of this news medium I aim to give our readers a new perspective on important issues on campus and a glimpse into the vast happenings in and around SMU. I would, of course, not be able to do this without the agile pens that will write most of the content you will read. 

Neema Mazonge will provide a peek into the work SMUSA is doing, while Zinzile Ncube and Kiritika Gurung cover the important projects the different Societies undertake. Lisa Dutt will be your eyes and ears for University matters, Sarah Campbell will help you manage student Lifestyle, Braden Newell will help you navigate the world of Technology, and for everything Arts & Culture you can count on Emily Chian. Finally, Athletics and Alumni will be covered by Nathan Robichaud, and Aiman Khan will give you an educated Opinion on all relevant matters.

We hope The Journal will become all we have envisioned, and that you will trust us to be your source for all SMU related matters. We want to be your voice, so please let us know what you would like to see in your Journal.
