It’s Paid!

Executive and Assistant-level roles are paid an annual honorarium for their time. Every team member also earns a 10% commission for ad sales leads they provide. Plus, there’s potential bonuses and other perks like free access to paid events!
Team building, training, and networking events.
The Journal aims to host a few team-building events in person or virtually every year. In-person events are typically catered, feature a special guest speaker, and offer a variety of team-building activities. Virtual events include team calls where team members connect, receive society updates, and share a meal. Journal team members also have exclusive access to writing mentors and complimentary event tickets.
Flexible & casual.
While the Journal does have an office on campus that team members are welcome to use, the society is officially remote-first. You’re welcome to work anywhere and anytime that best suits your schedule. Writers are expected to submit at least one article a month with the option to submit more. But otherwise, we aim to let you focus on your studies or work another part-time job while contributing to the Journal.
Development & skill-building.
Journal team members have the opportunity to learn about writing, journalism, interviewing, editing, giving feedback, receiving feedback, business management, ad sales, finance, accounting, marketing, information technology, and board governance, among much more.
Be involved!
One of the best parts of University life is being active on campus. Joining a student publication is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn about campus activities, and get access to student events. There’s no better way to experience Saint Mary’s.
