Upcoming Alumni Events: End of January/February

For our Alumni readers, the Saint Mary’s Alumni Association and Young Alumni Association are hosting a variety of exciting events during the upcoming month for you to take part in. Below are some details for anyone interested in sports, axe throwing, or the climate crisis.

January 29th: Alumni night at the Dauphinee Centre. The women’s hockey team takes on Mount Alison at 7:00 pm. The team is riding high and looking to increase their lead at the top of the table during a remarkable season. The Huskies are also fundraising to contribute to the Bell Let’s Talk organization designed to raise awareness for mental health issues. A great event in the making, be sure to witness the Huskies in action. Alumni tickets available for $5 at the SMU Huskies website

 

January 30th: The young Alumni association is hosting an axe-throwing party at the Timber Lounge on Agricola street. There will be lessons and a round-robin tournament open to all attendees. Bring your friends and experience something new or test yourself against other SMU alumni. Tickets are $20 and space is limited. A prize is included for the winner! Sign up here

January 31st: There will be a Back To the Classroom lecture delivered by Dr. Cathy Conrad from 12 pm to 1 pm in the Private Room (Loyola 298). The lecture will tackle the climate change crisis and is in honour of the School of Environment’s 5th anniversary. Dr. Cathy Conrad is a Professor of the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies and Coordinator of the Bachelor of Environmental Studies and will talk about her experience living in West Africa, where people’s lives are greatly affected by the changing climate. February 1st: Alumni night at the Dauphinee Centre. The men’s hockey team takes on UNB in the second to last home game of the regular season! Sure to be an exciting occasion. Tickets are available to Alumni online for $10.

February 5th: Alumni Night at the Humburg Centre. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will hit the court against Acadia in a doubleheader to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Tickets will be available for $8.

 

February 29th: From 12- 3 pm at SMU campus, there is an Open House for students who may be interested in attending Saint Mary’s in the future. Feel free to encourage prospective students to sign up!
